So there was talk of doing a Meetup on Saturday but Ash is working and a few of us already have various things on so rather than have something that is minimal attendance and we don't really have enough of a group to proceed on I figured I would put the main question we need to decide on up here.
So we are in a position now where there are 4 core ideas on the table of what we could do as a project, hopefully in time and with ability we will be in a position to tackle them all and any more that people come up with.
What we need to do is as a group choose where to begin. As previously talked about the idea is we will all meet and figure out how we go about it etc whether that is a bit each or we all work on the same bit and compare etc etc but that's very much the next get together, from this we are really just trying to isolate which particular thing everyone thinks is the most appropriate to get started with - no right or wrong!
The 4 options we have are in the notes in a bit more detail for anyone who couldn't make one of the meetings but as an overview:
1 - A financial modeller to project cashflow into the longer term, built in a manner that is end user friendly for people who are not into finance. (examples are planwithvoyant.com or nutmeg.com).
2 - Finish line timing for races, finding a way to automate the collection and posting of timings to an accurate level for 10k races / park run types of things that is inexpensive.
3 - Tinder for contractors ( ) - the idea of an online platform for contractors to look for appropriate work and vice versa for employers.
4 - LBGT (sorry thats probably not right) map coverage - this is for the tech for good project. Looking to produce a heat map of responses via twitter and update this real time to demonstrate support during an event day.
5 - Fantasy Tennis - Similar to Fantasy Football online but with Tennis as the sport. Please note this one should have been in the poll but it won't let me redo it to add it and I missed it when I was setting up!
If I missed another one, sorry it wasn't intentional just add it below so everyone can see it. Ive put a poll up for ease of use but feel free to add your thoughts / opinions / reasons to the post also so people can see what's important.
For me I have no strong preference anyway, would like to do all of them. From the discussions so far I think the Heatmap or the Finish Line ones seem like the sensible place to start as they appear to be more simplistic (sure I will regret that) so for my ability they seem less daunting at first, plus I like the idea of doing something for the greater good.
Cheers!
